Pick The Right Waters
Almost 12 million boats participate in 4th of July celebrations around the U.S. and what better place to experience the holiday than on Southwest Florida’s waters? We have plenty of boating destinations like Keewaydin Island, Sanibel, Ten Thousand Islands, and much more.
If you are planning to spend the day in Cape Coral, head to the Cape Coral bridge in the evening for the 9:30 pm fireworks show and tune your boat radio to 107.1 FM to experience the show synchronized to music! Naples has a similar event, beginning at 9 pm. Tie up along Naples beach and tune into 101.1 FM.
Looking to go big? The Venice Fireworks show draws over 10,000 spectators every year! You have to be anchored by 8:30 pm since the Venice Inlet closes to boat traffic at about 8:45 pm until the end of the fireworks show.
Pack Extra Supplies
For the 4th of July, you’ll want to pack all of your regular boating essentials but don’t forget some essentials for the holiday as well.
You might want to bring an extra cooler or two, especially if you plan to be out on the boat for most of the day. Pack extra water! Dehydration is avoidable and there is no quicker way to ruin your celebrations than with heat exhaustion. You might want to pack extra food, too, to avoid cutting the trip short. (And who doesn’t love 4th of July snacks?)
Many people like to celebrate on the 4th of July so you might find yourself with more passengers than you had anticipated. Consider packing a few extra lifejackets. For the little ones, you might want to invest in a water mat or inflatables so they can safely play in the water.
