Naples is in a convenient spot on the Gulf Coast of Florida. It’s close enough to popular boating destinations, such as Key West, offers great fishing spots, and overall, is a great place to live the boating lifestyle.

Boating in Naples will also allow you to enjoy some relaxation while connecting with native wildlife. You can encounter bald eagles, pelicans, turtles, manatees, dolphins, and other species.  You will never find the playful manatees, reclusive alligators, and plumed waterbirds on a single trip while going somewhere else.

There are about 110 miles between Naples and Key West.

In favorable weather conditions, it would take 3.5 hours to arrive by boat. It can take longer if you decide to stop by the many great fishing spots (which is one of the reasons to go by boat!).

You can find plenty of Tarpon by the Bahia Honda Bridge. Near the Overseas Highways is also one of the deepest inshore fisheries in the keys.

In Naples, you can fish in both salt and fresh water. For the most part, you can expect to find redfish and snook, and during the summer, there’s great tarpon fishing.

Among the most popular types of fishing in Naples, there is backwater fishing and offshore fishing. Backwater fishing is ideal for beginners and families with children and the Ten Thousand Islands is usually a popular spot for this.

There are plenty of options for offshore fishing, too. Take a boating trip out to the Gulf of Mexico and you will find several grouper species and snappers.
